Nairn Road is a modern family retreat on a quiet residential street in Poole, England. Completed by David James Architects, the contemporary house in Canford Cliffs is near the Poole Harbor and surrounding beaches.
According to the architects, the site is level and then drops away on a steep treed slope, bordering a golf course. The building stands out with its subtle palette of colors, resulting from a combination of stone, glass and aluminum.
The home’s 20-foot-tall entrance hall, boasting massive windows, creates an impressive sense of arrival. This room spans the full length of the house, becoming its architectural spine. It connects both floors while facilitating flow on each level.
The residence has four en-suite bedrooms, an open-plan living area, a cinema room, a study, a dining/lounge area and a double garage. “The interior layout creates rooms that could form part of the main open-plan feel of the house, while the clever use of double doors provides the opportunity to create more intimate spaces,” the architects say.
