Hunter Kenihan of Indian Summer Investments LLC sent us an inspiring home makeover project. When the current owner bought this 1920’s bungalow with craftsman elements, it had the classic outdated Los Angeles floor plan, two small bedrooms and a small bathroom between them. It was also on a significant hill with great views of northeast Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Mountains : “I wanted to expand and modernize the home in the most natural way possible and ultimately this resulted in ripping off the entire roof and starting fresh while also reconfiguring the layout“, explained the designer.
The entire inside of the house was rebuilt and all design choices were made with a craftsman/farmhouse style in mind. The designer was able to preserve the original white oak floors and much of the exterior siding and then match them when the home was expanded. The addition came straight off the back of the house and consisted of a ~350 square foot master suite with french doors leading to the backyard.
