Especially envisioned for Casa Cor Rio, a major design and architecture event in Latin America, this unconventional interior features a suspended glass floor with broken mirror pieces inside. The creation belongs to Gisele Taranto Architecture who has teamed up with LZ Studio to create a laboratory of ideas: “This year, LAB LZ by GT, have designed a space with a suspended glass floor, featuring mirror shards located in the empty space between the existing subfloor and finished floor”, an official press release states. Through this installation, the designers used mirrors to highlight the concept of depth and reflection that they were aiming to achieve with this space.

It may seem like this concept defies the modern idea of harmony design (we are referring to the unspoken rule of no sharp edges left in sight), yet its originality is inspiring. This is why we decided to present it to you as a really bold alternative to concrete or wooden flooring. We also liked the design scheme around this glass floor, as it unveils in the photo gallery below. What are your thoughts on this space? Would you consider having this type of floor in your house?
