Modern bathrooms create a simplistic and clean feeling. In order to design your modern bathroom make sure to utilize geometric shapes and patterns, clean lines, minimal colors and mid-century furniture. Your bathroom can effortlessly become a modern sanctuary for cleanliness and comfort.

Since bathrooms are spaces that we use everyday, their importance is far greater than we give it credit for. From bright and cheery to sophisticated and imposing, modern bathrooms have long gone beyond the limit of space. These modern details transform dull bathrooms into fantastic relaxation and refreshing spaces.

Mid-Century Modern

Mid-century modern design is architectural, furniture, graphic and interior style of the mid-19th century 1933-1965. Geometric shapes, natural colors and straight lines are all part of mid-century modern design. Bathroom furniture is a great place to start when designing your bathroom. Create a focal point by placing a modern chair in the corner or even a small sofa. Look for patterns and colors that fit into those categories when looking for what type of faucet, mirror and fixtures you are choosing to place in your modern bathroom.

“Design is a plan for arranging elements in such a way as best to accomplish a particular purpose.” —Charles Eames

Simple and Minimalist Design

Simplicity is a rule of thumb for modern design. Make sure that you are keeping open and organic space free of clutter. Use built-in shelving and cabinetry to hide unwanted personal items. Leave all toiletries and novelty items out of your bathroom space, this is a place for relaxation and clean design, don’t clutter it up with things that are unnecessary. Choose tile and backsplash with geometric shapes to add interest and character without sacrificing minimalistic design.

Simplistic Bathroom Decor Ideas

  • Arrange framed geometric shaped mirrors on bathroom wall
  • Place small white flower pots on shelves it add organic feel
  • Hang up framed modern prints
  • Add floor-to-ceiling mirror
  • Showcase concrete and wood elements
  • Skip the “pop of color” and go for white and grey towels

Freestanding Bathtubs

Freestanding tubs are a staple for modern bathroom designs. Balance is key, so keep things symmetrical and sharp by strategically placing your tub in a spot that enhances the feng shui of your bathroom. Traditionally bathtubs are the familiar oval shape, however give a rectangular or pedestal tub a try.

Greenery

Adding a touch of greenery in your bathroom creates a connection between the indoors and outdoors. Organic design coincides with modern design, meaning that the natural outdoor space should easily mesh with the indoor space you are designing. Bring the outdoors inside by adding an indoor plant or two.

Lighting

Choosing lighting is a crucial part of modern design style especially in the bathroom. There are plenty of lighting choices available to you. Modern design is all about lines and geometric shapes, so keep that in mind when shopping for light fixtures, windows, and placement of lighting. However, make sure to remember that the quality of the light is further more important than the actual light fixture. Skylights are great idea for modern bathrooms, because they add more natural light and interest to your bathroom.

I love all these awesome bathroom ideas. I have been wanting to redo my bathroom for a couple of weeks now and after seeing all these awesome ideas, I really just want to do it. I think I’ll start this weekend, I’ll probably start by just getting everything prepped for painting and things like that. I can’t wait to see how it turns!
