Australian Modern Architecture With a Twist: G House in Sydney
Fleming + Hernandez Architects completed the redesign of G House, a semi-detached residence in Gladesville, Sydney, serving the living needs of a young couple. One of the most important additions to the existing property was a courtyard, a green oasis linking the old and new wings of the house. The exterior architecture of the building reveals a dramatic blend of two volumes, the lower one hosting living spaces, while the upper level accommodates a bedroom suite with walk-in-robe and bathroom.
Extensive use of glass allows a high amount of natural light inside. The architects envisioned a generously-sized social zone, composed of living area, kitchen and dining, each functional area being well individualized. Colors and textures were used in abundance, resulting in original modern spaces filled with energy.
