Architects Bruno Armando Gomes Marques have completed the S. Roque House I, a modern residential project located in the Oliveira de Azeméis Municipality of Portugal. The three functionally separate levels of the residence are also visually distinct. The bottom floor is where the laundry, storage room and garage are located. According to the architects, “the height difference between the two roads confronting the land allows only two levels for the house, on the south side, while on the north side we added a third level for the garages, with a porch under a green cover. Thus, the program was complete and a solution has been found for mitigating the impact that three floors could impose on the surroundings“. The social area is the core of the residence, accommodated by the middle level. Its exterior appearance is defined by an overall symmetry and defining a gray color, contrasting with the white upper volumes, where the bedrooms are located.[Photography by Miguel Coelho]
