My main suggestion would be to knock down the wall between the kitchen and the living room and expand the kitchen out that way. You also might be able to add room for the washer and dryer in the old kitchen.

Can you expand the bedroom in the top right corner out onto the balcony? Then it might be large enough to be split into two sometime in the future.

i this apt rented or do you own it? and how much work are you looking to do?

Alex, thats pretty much what i had in mind,
also i was thinking of expending the small room by moving the kitchen wall a little, and to put the second toilet pluss a shower stall inside the room.
i still don’t like the long and narrow living room.
urbandoodle, i own the apartment, we don’t have a very large budget,
but we think we can make some significant changes.

There’s a big bedroom for 3 kids. Expand the living room and the bedroom out on the balcony. Knock down the wall between the kitchen and the living room. Move the toilet on the top right corner. Put the washer and dryer in a cubby in the kitchen.
