The competition held by the Department of Energy at Cornell University makes sure architects come up energy efficient homes. That’s the case with the Solar Decathlon House in Ithaca, New York, where the guys from Zero Energy Design (ZED) worked their butts to meet the criteria for a zero-energy residence. The one bedroom and one bathroom home uses photovoltaic and thermal systems, rain-water recycling and water-efficient fixtures and is surrounded by a green scenery. And the interior is just as stunning packing everything you’d need in a modern home. However, the most interesting part is the outside couch … Lovely!

Wow!!!
Nice one you have here…
It’s a zero-house and beautiful… Love it!
Great implementation, but that outdoor couch does look a bit uncomfortable. I hope the you can get the grass stains out environmentally friendly.
Very nice. Interesting! I just wonder how much it would cost to construct this house and what the payback time on it would be in terms of realising energy savings. It’s always great to see these ideas, but it would be even better if cost considerations could be discussed as well.
