What do you do when your garden hose leaks?  Throw it away?  Well, one designer who didn’t was Chase DeForest. The designer has created a collection called Hosewares where garden hose has been re-purposed into furniture. She uses the hose in place of wicker in a most novel way. Her pieces are quirky, fun and definitely environmentally friendly.

Deforest grew up on a farm, trained as a sculptor and worked as a furniture designer. She is a long time basket maker and avid gardener. She started making hose baskets years ago. If you take a closer look, you will notice she ties them together with plastic ties. Besides patio chairs, her line has now expanded to even pet beds. She won the 2008 Emerging Artist grant from the American Craft Council. - Via
