Wood Furniture, Wood House, Everything Wood

Livio De Marchi is a Venetian master sculptor who works exclusively in wood, and he can create some amzing stuff. He loves wood so much that everything around him is made from pure wood, starting from furniture, house, car and many more, as you can see from these pictures.

Here’s his wooden house, crafted entirely by hand.

This looks terribly drab, boring, and antiquated. Only thing i could think is old person. If i walked into his house i would throwup.

The guy is talented though. and makes some beautiful stuff, but someone should introduce him to a paint brush, maybe a little brushed aluminum.

Beautiful – amazing technique with the fabrics. It’s very rare to see wood being used so sculpturally. Great stuff.

HE’S A MASTER SCULPTOR WHO WORKS WITH WOOD.
What part of that don’t you understand?
He’s a guy who’s devoted his entire life to sculpting and apparently wood. It’ll be like giving a surgeon a few television parts and expecting him to make a plasma screen outta that. Wood isn’t paint. It’s not even liquid!
And to say “this guy is talented tho” – that implies that he’s somewhat of a rising talent. Again, he is a master sculptor who works with wood.

People need to understand that art is how artists express themselves. And people express themselves in different ways, in different styles, using different techniques to accentuate those styles, and using differing mediums as well. For a sculptor to use wood is like a poet to use the word “avaricious” rather than “greedy” instead. A that poet’s poem, the use of that particularly word would affect the entire poem.
And it seems that a lot of people on the internet do not understand such a simple thing. I’m pissed off by the ignorance.

So I just wanted to say that. Bored. SAT’s tommorow. Nothing to do.

personally, i believe that everyone has their own opinion and what you think of something can’t be controlled by others, however, you as a Human Being (as hard as that may be to believe) should have enough common decency to respect what someone else loves and is damn good a doing. Hate all you want but take it somewhere else. People often take advantage of being able to leave things anonymously, seems more challenging to say something nice and helpful.

the first thought that came to mind as i scrolled past the first pic was , what a big waste of fucking materials and money not to mention time. he could have done so much more with his instead of making these things… wooden clothing, come on. though i would like to have a ride in that car. the man is very skilled but i would consider making things like this to be just a hobby.

I like this foru msooo much, thanks for the creators.

  32. Posted January 24, 2008 at 1:16 am | Permalink

Starving kids? lmao, it’s probably more than likely that the man cut the lumber from his own property, in which case the cost to him would be the fuel he used to run a portable saw mill, and him carving the wood was his own time aka free. I’m not sure how him doing that, causes kids to cry over bowls of rice, but whatever you say.

We were just in Venice and stayed at an apartment next to this guy’s shop. It was truly amazing! We met him and he wasn’t weird, instead he seemed like a friendly guy and very proud of his work. He also had some glass art and painted wood sculptures. Very cool!!
