Use Stairs to Store Something

stairs storage Use Stairs to Store SomethingAfter I’ve presented you the Toekick Drawers, today we have another interesting idea for storage. I’ve found this ingenious idea on Desire to Inspire, and maybe some of you already use this idea, as a secret place. Sorry if I’ve unveiled the secret.

That is the coolest thing I have seen. We help people sell homes with no agents (www.bytheowner.com) and I have gone into 2000 homes, but I have never seen storage in stairs. Great stuff.

At first sight storage in stairs seems a great design idea. But they are utterly dangerous!!!!! There are people who will not orderly shut them. Another one will come running downstairs, with some news or whatever makes them run … They will step into the open drawer, break through it and fall over. Just imagine what might happen. Stop tinkering with stairs. Sorry to say it so clearly, but safety must have priority over design experiments.

    OUCH!
Nice idea, and I was highly taken up with.. until I realized what’ll happen when forgetful people leave the drawers open :-( OUCH OUCH OUCH.

Maybe this WILL still work if, instead of drawers, the front (vertical piece) of each step can flip upwards and outwards to open, and then gravity will force it shut when u let go. Better, have a magnetic clasp to hold it tightly closed; perhaps also make sure the inside is inclined slightly towards the back, to prevent anything from rolling forward.
