Refresh * Architecture completed Northern Rivers Beach House, a modern residence located in South Golden Beach, Australia. According to the architects, this project is part of a dual-occupancy development. Built in a flood-prone area, the house reconceptualizes these restrictions into a contemporary design that features subtropical living for a temperate climate. The building showcases a surprising shape, mostly due to its cantilevered second volume, as well as the cantilevered roof and terrace on the opposite side. Diagonal exterior lines interact with the vertical panels, creating a captivating visual effect.
Step inside and you will discover a refined design scheme, based on a color palette in black and white, enhanced by wooden textures. An inviting lounge space flanked by generously-sized windows is continued with a dining table for six and modern kitchen. Elegant pendant lighting units descend from the wooden ceilings contributing to a more intimate atmosphere. The residence is said to incorporate sustainable principles like passive solar design, natural ventilation and economical use of space.
