A skin made of wood that transversely crosses the housing is Susanna Cots‘ “leitmotiv” for this charming modern apartment for two book lovers in Barcelona. According to the designer, the main artery that unites the whole space is a wooden lacquered sheet that crosses the rooms and wraps them up like a warm and protective skin. Wood crosses the apartment vertically and horizontally creating an emotional and warm passageway.

The ceilings in the dining rooms are dressed in wood, a material which also shapes the furniture that holds the TV and the fireplace. Reading is part of the daily routine of the owners and that is why the central area is transversely defined by bookshelves. The studio is fully integrated into the living room and creates a corner flooded in light, as it is facing the terrace. The rest of the spaces have been projected in white, with black touches (shelves and decorative lamps). The suite also includes a water area to evoke a relaxed feeling. This project has brought Spanish designer Susanna Cots the award for Best Apartment at the Idea Tops Awards in China. [Photos and information provided via e-mail by Susanna Cots]
