Integrated in a dream location, high above Lake Lugano, Switzerland, House Lombardo by Philipp Architekten has an imposing appearance. The four level villa was anchored to the hilly terrain, its massive white silhouette contrasting the surroundings in both color and architecture style. Truly spectacular, the upper level of the residence features expansive glass openings and unique views of the lake.

Judging by the location of House Lombardo, it is not difficult to anticipate parts of the project’s brief. According to the architects,”the aim was to gain the best benefit of the unique panoramic view. The spaciousness of the living area merges visually with the overwhelming nature, emphasized by using transparency, different views and perspectives. Bearing account to the region’s climate, the living room doubles due to the large terraces over a long period of the year. The clients rave about the 270 degree panoramic view, where under favourable weather conditions you can even spot Milan.” [Photography: Udo Geisler Photographie]
