Jordi López Aguiló of Kutarq Studio sent us photos of Moitie, an iconic table lamp using reflection as a key part of the design. The project has a dynamic aspect: depending on the angle of view, the vision of the lamp varies and there is a feeling of depth. The mirror reflects the half silhouette and creates the full shape. A simple yet ingenious approach, not to mention a highly creative home item.
After several shape tests, the designers ended up with the common table lamp form that everybody can recognize. The lamp is made of three components and three materials: a half cylinder wooden base, a mirror with integrated light sources in the back and an opalescent tube that diffuses the light. All these components can be assembled easily, making this project appropriate for a flat packaging. The product will be presented at Paris Design Week from 9th to 15th September 2013.
