Jackson Design and Remodeling sent us photos and information about one of their recent projects. This hillside home in San Diego, USA with captivating views of the La Jolla Country Club  and ocean is the dream home of a couple who wanted a space to grow old in together and to enjoy fully with their pre-teen child and the family’s beloved rescue Labradors. The couple was attracted to the essential character of their house, which was built in 1957. They wanted to retain its essence while making a significant upgrade in visual appeal and functionality.

A new third level was added to accommodate an expansive master bedroom and bathroom suite and a large office, all of which now take advantage of spectacular views. Each level of the 4 bedroom, 5 bathroom home was remodeled, along with the home’s exterior. Outside and inside, the approach of this design was the thoughtful integration of traditional and contemporary themes. The wife prefers more classic aesthetics while the husband leans toward the modern. The new home design unifies the couple’s divergent tastes with a meticulous attention to detail.

The traditional aspect of the design can be found in the exceptionally luxurious, classic materials and in the subtle communication of solidity and history achieved by the cohesive colors, textures and materials used from room to room and level to level. A fresh, modern feeling is evidenced throughout the home in the design’s approach to open space and abundant light. The clients can now enjoy the spirited and enduring appeal of their home for many years to come.
