Integrated in a scenic forest landscape by the lake in Dunmore, Vermont, this modern refuge by Brian Mac – Vermont Architects inspires comfort and peacefulness. Entitled Cantilever Lake House, the project consists of two separate twin homes, each having two levels. A dramatic contrast is achieved between the black and gray exterior of the buildings and the vivid colors of the forest.

Only one of the two sections presents direct lake access, which is probably why this construction accommodates the social areas. With windows instead of walls and unobstructed views, the living room is truly spectacular. Wooden furniture (the Eames chair was also integrated in the design) contrasts the white walls, contributing to a cozy feel. The interior connects to a large deck, perfect for outdoor meditation. Clean and contemporary, the Cantilever Lake House is inspiring for nature-enthusiasts, as well as for those who appreciate minimalist home design- have a look!
