A highly modern home inspiring openness and dynamics was recently completed in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand by IDIN Architects. The concept of the residence is based on the owner’s passion for traveling and kayaking. Interpreting the owner’s lifestyle and passion and mirroring it into architecture was the most difficult task for the architects. The result is a mix of volumes, two of them cantilevering in order to create a striking effect, one that is said to give away the feeling of challenge and adventure.

W House has a distinct color palette mainly defined by uncoated concrete gray, black-gray and brown-red. The materials and tone were especially selected considering the entire context of the building. The color of skin coat concrete matches the surrounding landscape. The ground level is black-gray in order to conceptually divide “the boat from the river”, as well as the second floor from the ground. In addition, the site location is on a brown-red soil, thus explaining the choice for this color in the overall house design.
