London based designer Tony O’Neill envisioned the Walnut Shell Seat, an elegant chair showcasing an interesting wooden pattern. The project is composed of panels CNC routed in solid timber and joined together to the seat pan by finger-like lap segments. According to the designer, “although the construction is carefully considered, the furniture piece emphasizes the effect on the grain pattern by taking curved cuts through the wood. The grain was modeled by computer software before the cuts were made so as to predict the possible effects“.

The Walnut Shell Seat is both has a stylish appearance and is easy to integrate in almost any modern interior. We would like to see this piece in a set of six (table included). From our end, the design also looks ergonomic, with its hand and backrest providing a high level of comfort. How would you comment on its overall appearance?
