The original Acoustable comes from Belgian designers Jérôme Spriet and Wolfgang Bregentzer and combines the functionality of a coffee table with the beats of a quality sound system. According to designboom, the unusual table consists of a base shell and a top surface with a foam core between the two. Here is more from the designers: The coffee table at the centre of the room becomes the sound system and the power terminal. There are no visible technical elements, only the player and a remote which can both be stored in a built in pocket. Acoustable is made from a polymer and mineral blend that combines the advantages of stone and plastic. Its shape follows the natural curves of an elastic membrane which, like its sound, fills the space suggestively. The project measures 120 cm in diameter and a height of 50 cm, which makes it perfect for an uncommon work table. For more information, you can contact the producers here.
