For those wooden furnishings fans out there, I have something for you. The Ocho House in the Santa Lucia Mountains, California, doesn’t look like a lodge but thanks to its extremely cozy arrangements it does make you feel like living in one. The interior seems large because of the large windows and the tall ceilings, but comfortable at the same time thanks to the materials and colors used : butter beige, white, natural wood, dark brown and black.

What I like most? The wooden staircases, the huge door and the living room view down the valley. You?
But more than the wooden inspiration this is a highly sustainable house that uses overhanging green walls and a smart solar roof. That’s the reason it got the green Energy and Sustainability Honor award from the American Institute of Architects. – via decojournal

Mosaics are great additions to home decor, not just for floors and walls but tables. Mosaic tiling on tables is not new but many of those you come across would not suit a contemporary style. So it is delightful to see the work of designer Brad Teasdale, co-founder of Brooklyn Glassworks, NY. He is ” the pioneer of exclusive techniques that blend contemporary concrete and glass design with classical mosaic craftsmanship.” His nested tables are an example of that skill. It is made of concrete, kiln formed glass and stainless steel and demonstrates his artistry with contrast and placements.

For those who prefer the warmer tones of wood, his custom designed Colourshapes table shows his versatility with mosaics on organic material. Overall this is one designer who is able to combine art with utilitarian function. Teasdale does custom installations of a wide variety of tile applications including furniture, architectural features and fine art. He could be called a modern mosaic master. – Via

A few months ago we presented an interesting piece of Garden Furniture, and today here is another interesting bench named the Hanna Bench. These benches are manufactured from recycled/reclaimed boat wood; though this gives them a unique appearance, no two will be exactly the same even if they are of the same style. The silkscreened grass image on the backrest of the bench is a large scale, cropped graphic that gives the old boards a fresh look. The price for a bench like this is $900 each. – Via – ApartmentTherapy

Swedx is a Swedish company who specialise in what they term as ‘unique products of natural character’. The concept of SWEDX is to create and develop unique products of natural character, optimal design and features. This is achieved by combining quality, performance, ergonomics and design. In the news section appears that they want to release a new range of HD ready LCD television entertainment systems which build upon their current range of wood finished LCD HD televisions. If you are interested in this new LCD HDTV I’m sad to announce that any details concerning the new range of LCD HDTV systems is virtually non-existent at the time of writing, with only a series of product images are available on their website for now. Anyway this HDTV would be a great chooice for those who want to something different with an organic look. – Via – Nexus404
