The DS -166 leather armchair is designed by Hugo de Ruiter for DeSede. The original idea was based on an artistic principle, yet without neglect of functionality. The outer form of the armchair has all the quality of a sculpture thanks to its upward tapering lines. This in turn results not from a mere whim of the designer or from the proverbial wet finger held aloft to see which way the wind is blowing. The armchair is a nest of lush comfort, a practical luxury to retire to. - Via - Trendir

The Cape Schank House in Victoria, Australia designed by Paul Morgan Architects is a great example of integrated sustainable technology in residences. The most interesting thing at this house is the water tank, the ceiling wraps down to an internal water tank. The tank cools the ambient air temperature of the living room during summer, supplies rain water, and structurally carries the roof load. During winter the tank is drained and wrapped in an insulating jacket. The tank also plays an important role in organizing the living area into four discrete zones: kitchen, living, eating and work. I agree that this water tank might take some space, but the design and implementation is awesome. - Via - Solardecathlon & materialicious

In these days with modern technology all over the place to have a fireplace in your home is much more easier. For example Real Fireplace Illuminational Heater is a great replacement for an old fireplace. It may look like a cross between an LCD display and a space heater, but the display part of the gadget actually shows a “real” fireplace. The Real Fireplace gives you the look and aesthetic of a fireplace situated on a flatscreen display while the rest of the unit blasts toasty heat in your direction. The good thing about this “fireplace” is that you can move it all over the house, and you don’t have to take care of him like a real fireplace. Price : 25,800 yen ($242) - Via - Dvice & Gizmodo
