The Living Lounge Chair

I don’t know about you, but after sleeping on the floor until my bedroom furniture gets here, I am really excited to see comfy looking chairs. Take the Living Lounge Chair for example. The concept was created by JGreen Design and won the 2008 Niche Awards, even though the price is more than most of us would pay: $7,500. The dimensions are 96 x 38 x 30-inch and it definitely has style, looking like a living creature with black arms made of poplar and a body with lavender micro-suede. But is it worth paying that much? The company is taking 50% deposits from those that definitely need to lie down on this chaise lounge. It’s a limited edition so if you want yours, hurry up!

The Ice Lounge is a place created for relaxation and especially to enhance the pleasures of a truly delightful ice cream. Right now you might ask yourself why ice cream ? This piece of furniture was created by Claudio Colucci for a a Swiss ice cream manufacturer. Claudio’s objective was to create a chair that would enhance a person’s experience while eating ice cream. The lounge also contains an in-built music system that allows connoisseurs to enjoy their fav tunes along with the sugary delights as well as the benefits of Chromotherapy. The final result is called the “Ice Lounge” that you see in the picture. Ice Lounge is a unique “hideaway” where you can escape the fast pace of your life, and enjoy some ice cream. – Via

The Largest Public Living-room : City Lounge

On Freshome I focus mostly on things for homes, but today I’ve found an interesting project that I can say is the largest public living-room, and a great place to visit if you are in Switzerland. City Lounge is an outdoor space in the center of St. Gallen, Switzerland, that has been designed by Carlos Martinez in collaboration with Pipilotti Rist and it was the winning entry at a design competition announced by the Schweizer Verbandes der Raiffeisenbanken (SVRB) and the city of St. Gallen. The project features a bright red surfacing that appears to have swept in like the tide, covering everything in its path. At night, the streets are illuminated by blimp-shaped objects that hang from cables strung between the district’s modern office buildings. Photos by : Thomas MayerVia

Embrace Lounge by Tanya Aguiniga’s

At a first glance the embrace lounge doesn’t look to impressive, is looking like something very simple, but the embrace lounge has a hidden, body-shaped curve in it, allowing you to feel the comfort of a warm embrace. This piece was inspired by the need for a hug while away from home. The embrace lounge was designed by Tanya Aguiniga’s, a Los Angeles based furniture designer/maker raised in Tijuana, Mexico. Her work encourages users to reconsider the objects they use on a daily basis by creating work that explores an objects’ unseen aspect, such as half chairs that rely on the wall to function and whose image is only complete as its shadow is cast upon the wall. – Via – Notcot
