The Toilet-Shaped House has a very unique design, and was built by Sim Jae-duck, the chairman of the organizing committee of the Inaugural General Assembly of the World Toilet Association, and he hopes his toilet house will highlight the global need for better sanitation.. The Toilet-Shaped house is in fact named Haewoojae, which signifies in Korean “a place of sanctuary where one can solve one’s worries“. Sim Jae-duck will open what is billed as the world’s one and only toilet house on November 11 to mark the launch of his World Toilet Association.

The steel, white concrete and glass house, with a symbolic opening in the roof, will be ready to receive visitors next month, said the World Toilet Association in a statement. The house is a 419sq m structure with two bedrooms, two guestrooms and other rooms, the two-storey house of course features three deluxe toilets. Unlike the giant “toilet” in which they are located, they will not be see-through affairs. If you would like to visit this house you can go to Sim Jae-duck native city of Suweon, 40km south of Seoul.

Deck house is a project made by Felipe Assadi & Francisca Pulido. The project starts having in mind a deck of wood. Over this platform would be incorporated the different areas of the house. Nevertheless, the resources were exclusively aimed at this terrace, and the interior space was enough only for a large living area incorporated to this terrace. It was decided, therefore, to assign almost all of these resources to resolve the housing based on two main components: a deck and a living area, being this later one capable of absorbing the kitchen, the dinning room, and even the master bedroom. Additionally, considering that in a summer holiday house dormitories are only used to sleep, it was decided to eliminate this concept, changing it for “a group sleeping area at which the space aimed at dormitories almost fully disappears from the project. Read more on Felipeassadi about this project.

I’ve always been amazed by how good some minimalist houses look, and for those who want to know more about minimalist homes I’ve found an artcile on Zenhabits from where you can learn a lot of useful stuff, and create you dream home in a minimalist style. If you are not a big fan of minimalist homes just read the benefits of such a home, and you’ll become a minimalist fan right away.
- Less stressful. Clutter is a form of visual distraction, and everything in our vision pulls at our attention at least a little. The less clutter, the less visual stress we have. A minimalist home is calming.
- More appealing. Think about photos of homes that are cluttered, and photos of minimalist homes. The ones with almost nothing in them except some beautiful furniture, some nice artwork, and a very few pretty decorations, are the ones that appeal to most of us. You can make your home more appealing by making it more minimalist.
- Easier to clean. It’s hard to clean a whole bunch of objects, or to sweep or vacuum around a bunch of furniture. The more stuff you have, the more you have to keep clean, and the more complicated it is to clean around the stuff. Think about how easy it is to clean an empty room compared to one with 50 objects in it. That’s an extreme example, of course, as I wouldn’t recommend you have an empty room, but it’s just to illustrate the difference.
If you want to know more, be sure to check the rest of the article on Zenhabits.

This 70-ies villa, is built in ‘New Brutalism’ style and has been refurbished and updated by the interior architects Renaud De Poorter and Femke Holdrinet. The result is a contemporary family home with an open character and a strong sensual touch. Images from owi.
