NatureMaker is a design and fabrication company of sculpted trees. Their projects can be found all over the world for industries including: hotels, casinos, theme parks, museums, restaurants and retailers. From artificial palm trees to grand old oaks, NatureMaker’s replica trees are one-of-a-kind nature sculptures. These trees can be integrated into any space, from elegant residential interiors to hotel lobbies, exhibit designs and if you really want even in your own home. In the picture below you can see an amazing example of their work at Villa Behrens. The first 12′ of the tree is designed around an existing structural column. This area of the home was architecturally designed around the tree. You can see more beautiful examples by visiting their online portofolio.

I’ve always been amazed by how good some minimalist houses look, and for those who want to know more about minimalist homes I’ve found an artcile on Zenhabits from where you can learn a lot of useful stuff, and create you dream home in a minimalist style. If you are not a big fan of minimalist homes just read the benefits of such a home, and you’ll become a minimalist fan right away.
- Less stressful. Clutter is a form of visual distraction, and everything in our vision pulls at our attention at least a little. The less clutter, the less visual stress we have. A minimalist home is calming.
- More appealing. Think about photos of homes that are cluttered, and photos of minimalist homes. The ones with almost nothing in them except some beautiful furniture, some nice artwork, and a very few pretty decorations, are the ones that appeal to most of us. You can make your home more appealing by making it more minimalist.
- Easier to clean. It’s hard to clean a whole bunch of objects, or to sweep or vacuum around a bunch of furniture. The more stuff you have, the more you have to keep clean, and the more complicated it is to clean around the stuff. Think about how easy it is to clean an empty room compared to one with 50 objects in it. That’s an extreme example, of course, as I wouldn’t recommend you have an empty room, but it’s just to illustrate the difference.
If you want to know more, be sure to check the rest of the article on Zenhabits.

Plants bring natural beauty to our living spaces. By creating texture and balance, a room or patio can be transformed into an environment that comforts and welcomes. But, just like Miss Universe, plants can do more than look pretty. They’ve been proven to reduce stress so well that one glance at a plant lowers your heart rate. They also help clean the air we breathe by absorbing toxins and acting as little oxygen factories. Plants simply make us feel better.
By easing mental fatigue and improving air quality plants manage to find themselves an indispensable part of your home life. Not convinced yet? Studies show that:
1. In addition to calming your heart rate, plants lower blood pressure and reduce muscle tension related to stress
2. Plants help us relax and focus, leading to increased productivity, creativity, idea generation, and problem solving capabilities. In fact, the presence of plants helps so much that it has been shown to relieve the symptoms experienced by children with ADD.
3. Plants help patients recovering from surgery and ease the symptoms of Alzheimer’s.
I guess we’re finally learning what our ancestors have known for centuries, plants are more than just ornaments. At some level, we are deeply connected to them. So much so, that simply cohabitating with them brings us health and repose.
Thanks for sharing all these little secrets to our today guest blogger Justin Mast ( Founder of Bloomscape an online shop with beautiful flowers ). I’m sure that Justin is not the only one who can write for Freshome, and if you think you have something you could share with our little community feel free to use our Send Us Tips and get in contact with me.

This home has been encased in a facade matching the greenery around it, with a beautiful result. The concealing mesh is permeable to let the sunshine filter onto the house. But it also allows the light from inside to radiate out. Allowing the build to sit anonymously by day, but emerge discretely at night. Blurring the boundaries between what is human, and what is not. When I saw the pictures I’ve imediately thought that this home would be perfect durring a war, a perfect example of camouflage. I’m sure that this mesh design can be improved to increase the camouflage.
