North Carlton Green House is a breutiful green project designed by Zen Architects, and is located in Melbourne, Australia. The North Carlton Green House was inspired by the clients intuitive connection with landscape and the sun, complemented by our innovative use of sustainable design principles. Plants were integrated into the building to create a living, breathing, sustainable space that is a delight to inhabit. A rooftop garden provides an urban oasis perched above the surrounding rooftops nestled in the tree tops.

Water consumption is minimized through collecting rainwater and re-using grey water in the garden. The gardens are watered by automated subsurface irrigation systems to minimize water lost through evaporation. Passive heating is provided by a two storey north facing void that allows sun to penetrate deep into the house heating thermal mass of exposed concrete floor and ceiling. Passive cooling is provided by windows located to catch breezes cooled by the courtyard plants and pond while a two storey void facilitates natural heat removal through stack effect.

mkLotus is the latest modular home designs by Michelle Kauffman. This project will be built by ExtremeHomes, and mkLotus is going to be the Showhouse for West Coast Green in San Francisco from September 20-22, 2007. mkLotus is a true definition for a green home. This home incorporates a truly impressive list of green elements like : green living roof, solar power (100% powered by solar), rain and groundwater catchment system, gray water system, FSC-certified wood for framing, SIP wall assembly, open cell foam insulation by Icynene, Noritz on-demand water heater, folding glass door walls by Nanawall, bamboo flooring, no-VOC paints by Yolo, LED lighting throughout, EcoResin interior sliding door panels by 3form, Energy Star appliances, countertops by Concreteworks, FSC-certified cabinets over Roseburg Skyblend particleboard, floor and wall recycled glass tiles by Terra Green, and water-efficient fixtures by Kohler.
Now perhaps the most important thing is the cost generated during its construction is between 50 and an inferior 70% to the normal thing, since, to the modular being, them house is built of industrial form later to be mounted in their definitive location. – Via – Metaefficient

The Greenfield Residence is a beautiful green house designed by the Icelandic firm Minarc-Architects, and the principals of the firm live in it with their two infant children. The house is situated in a classical “temple on the mount” position, quite a few feet above the semi-suburban streetscape of Mar Vista. More about this beautiful house in this report & more pictures in this photo gallery.
