What are those things that make a house modern? Is it the furniture or the interior furnishings? Not always. Just take a look at the Dupli.Casa in Ludwigsburg, Germany, where architect Jürgen Mayer H worked on the footprint of a 1984 house to create this beautiful shaped spatial villa. I still can’t decide what looks best. Is it the sophisticated large spaces interior or the stunning contrast at the exterior between the white walls and the black windows? Or the fact that it avoids detailing using homogeneous transitions? Maybe all of them.

I’m not yet sure if these are simple renderings, hybrid renderings (reality enhanced) or just real images but I’d love to live there. Would you? - via Architect

Located in the historic district of Gelnhause, Germany, this unique project named the Living Room was designed by Seifert Stoeckmann. Now if you feel that your house has not enough windows, then I’m sure that after you’ll see this project you’ll change your mind. The house is perforated by 52 windows set in a checkerboard pattern. Just think for a second …52 windows …there will be a lot of work at washing them. The bedroom hangs in a sliding drawer that can be opened over the street for alfresco sleeping, very cool design. Finally I don’t think that I would like to life in a house like this, and the only reason for a house like this to exist is …as a tourist attraction. - Via

In Darmstadt, Germany, The Alice-Hospital vom Roten Kreuz has commissioned Angela Fritsch Architekten to build a pavilion in the park in front of their main building, and the final result is a really creative design. The pavilion was constructed using a conventional system of prefabricated containers. In order to integrate it into the park, the surface finish of the facade is committed to adhering sheeting system patented by Hannes Freising from architectural facade firm Huellwerk. This ZGG pavilion (Zentrum Ganzheitlicher Gesundheit) was to consist of a cheap container box with a wallpaper made out of sheet metal. This golden cover has ornamental leaves cut out of it, making it a shiny and decorative structure in the hospital’s park. - Via

This steel sculpture is a wonderful peace of art designed by Olafur Eliasson. This beautiful merging of art and architecture is a 9 meter-high walk-double spiral of steel in the entrance of the KPMG ( a global accounting firm ) office building in Munich, Germany. The stair is called Umschreibung (Rewriting), and was completed in 2004. - Photos by : Christian Beirle
