Smoothie Table

Share |

If you’ve never had the chance to devour a smoothie, then maybe this creation does not seem as delicious as designer Florent Degourc meant it to be. Originated in America, a smoothie is a healthy drink made up almost entirely out of fruits, sometimes sweetened. This particular project is called “Smooth & Smoothie” and was built using a mix of  polyurethane foam and resin coating. Don’t let the dripping effect full you, this table is steady as a rock and can be “put to work” just like any other table. A plus will be its style and originality. We don’t have any official information on the price, but the designer can be contacted on his blog here. – via Home Tone

Portable Workstations Brought Together in a Swiss Table

Share |

Business waiting  rooms with huge tables and chairs that occupy a lot of space can be made history with this small and ingenious design.  The Swiss Table is a concept from Brazilian designer Paulo and combines function with design creativity. Although it was inspired by Swiss cheese, the table does not make one think about  anything related to food and kitchens, but instead has an elegant and stylish touch. Especially created for corporate business waiting rooms, the Swiss Table can be placed anywhere and it can be “sliced up” in individual portable workstations for depositing files or for placing your laptop. Perhaps this way interviews will finally become a relaxing experience. -via

To Be Continued… Bench

Share |

A colorful design with a very creative name. Freshome presents the new To Be Continued Bench, created by Julien Carretoro. Julien is a very talented designer living for the moment in The Netherlands. He has many interesting projects and if you visit his web page you will also find some news about a design internship. The bench is actually a part of a series of furniture, all gathered under the title “to be continued”. Such furniture items include a sideboard, a coffee table and a cabinet. What unites these designs is their unique way of production.

These are some words of the designer himself concerning the innovative bench and the process of production.“It deals with creating a real and recognizable uniqueness within serial production. Instead of leaving randomness manage the differences; it uses the repetitive actions existing within the production process as a tool for differentiation. Then each piece produced comes as a result of a process applied on the piece that came before. Each piece is then existing because of the others and couldn’t have been designed without the others. Each layer is casted on top of the one casted before following the exact outline of it. Because of the imperfection of the cast, the object slowly mutates and starts designing itself.”

With this willingly self-made design, one must wonder about the ergonomics of the bench. In spite of its interesting look, it doesn’t really seem too comfortable. If you would like to purchase this product or simply find out more information, you can contact the designer here. – Via Chair Blog

Interactive design is the new wave of the future. Lamps that lit up when you touch them, wardrobe doors that glide when you clap your hands, these are just a few of the examples you’ve seen here on Freshome.  Today we would like to present another creative way of interacting with a product.  Modi sofa is a modular furniture system that can be arranged in any way the owner would like. This is possible due to the fact that it consists of foundation holes and plenty of cushions that you can combine together to form the furniture shapes of your choice.
