If you are a regular reader of this blog you might remember the Sculpted Bedroom Furniture Collection by Allan Lake a great piece of sculpted furniture for someone who want something unique. Today I’ve decided to present another interesting piece of sculpted furniture from Allan Lake. This Bespoke hand sculpted Desk was made on commission for a couple who wanted it for a particular purpose and place. It is made out of very beautiful figurative burr elm and houses eight hand cut dovetailed drawers and a cupboard with shelf. It features a channel of amber resin that runs central through the length of the desktop. Underneath this channel of resin there are concealed lights that create an effective warm under glow to the surface at night time.It was made as two bases and a top with eight mortise holes that fit onto eight through tenon joints atop each leg, this allowing for better access to its place of inhabitants, as it is a large piece.

It is approximately 82”Long x 46”Wide x 29”High, and was created completely to satisfy the customers needs for function and dimension and also fundamentally for there love of the chosen wood. The overall aesthetics of the desk were inspired by organic natural forms and landscapes and also as spontaneous reactions to the nature of the wood grains in each piece used. The study in which it is now housed also played a creative role in the visualization of its overall look. The desk is finished in multiple layers of furniture oil finish and was finally lightly sanded back and coated and buffed up with a clear wax creating a warm mellowed sheen.

The DeskChair by Wolf Brinkman is a really unusual idea that has an integrated comfy chair built inside the desk itself that faces away from the desk and your work area. When I’ve saw for the first time this design, I was left without words, because usually I’m looking for things that can really be used, and for something like this I didn’t found any use at that moment. After I’ve thought a little I came to this conclusion that you can use this “desk chair” when you are taking a break from your computer monitor, and use that break to face away from your desk and relax your eyes.

Designer Sung-kyu Nam made an interesting, nice looking concept entitled “DesCom” , that is not to useful, when the laptop ( the main piece is missing ). He made a simple white table which has a place especially for Samsung’s laptop computer. Basically it’s a simple table with a built-in notebook. Of course, you can remove the laptop from table, but afterwards the table looks ugly and not really all that useful. Anyway this idea would be useful as a desk office. - Via - Yankodesign
