Ouch. With oil selling at record prices, filling up our cars at the pump really hurts our wallets these days. Global demand, especially from rapidly growing economies like China and India, is far outstripping our capacity to produce enough oil. So it makes more and more sense to curb our dependence on crude. Perhaps a good way to remind us to change our oil guzzling lifestyle is this gold tone oil can tea set made by Designcommando (Germany). The designers called their creation Beautifuel Life because “We all have a beautiful life that is given to us by oil and fuel.”

The coffee service is porcelain. For the exclusive series, the oil can is covered with real gold. It is painted gold for the normal series. The gold colour serves as a daily reminder that the cost of oil may as well be in the same category as the precious metal itself. So each morning you pour your favourite beverage from the oil can pot, you will be conscious of draining supplies.

The Gemelli Coffee Table is a really expensive coffee table ( $3059.95 ), but I’ve decided to post this product because the idea is quite interesting. The Gemelli Coffee Table is designed stylishly combining the concept of two tables in one. The table is made of glass and steel, a combination which provides the living room an elegant look. The two tops look one when closed and are adhered with UV glue; and can swivel apart making some extra space for more people. This coffee table is availble at Jensen-Lewis.

According to this article people love things that have rounded corners, and this is a good thing because Freshome design also has round corners. Round corners make your image softer, with a smoother feel and with very few edges or hard angles. Corners say “go away.” At the risk of sounding hoaky: smoother, rounder surfaces say “hold me.” It seems that in these days everything that looks good has round corners, the Ipod, the Iphone, etc. Now after I’ve read that article I know why I’ve decided to post this coffee table with rounded corners. You can have this coffee table in three colors : Dark (£95) ,White (£105) and Oak Veneer on birch ply (£120 ) from here.

A few readers sent me emails telling me that every morning they grab a cup of tea or coffee, open their computer and come to Freshome to check if I’ve posted some new fresh designs. When I’ve found this original, brilliantly designed dual purpose drinking mug, I’ve immediately though at those people who sent me emails, and I’ve decided that this might be a good design to post. This dual purpose drinking mug can be purchased for £13.99 from here.
