The Perspective Chair is designed by Pharrell Williams in collaboration with furniture designer Domeau & Pérès. The Perspective chair will be shown in Paris at the prestigious Emmanuel Perrotin Galerie from October 21st 2008 until January 10th 2009. The chair will be available in four colors and only 4 units of each will be sold. Now this is a piece of furniture in limited edition, and if they’ll sell only 4 pieces just try to imagine the price. Finally the inspiration behind the design of the Perspective Chair was the relationship between a man and a woman, and here is what Pharrell has to say about this : “I had often wondered what it’s like to truly be in love, not lust for once.. So I decided not to ask what it was like in someone else’s shoes or what it was like to sit in their seat.. I decided to sketch out my own experiment; the perspective chair.” - Via

The egg chair designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the SAS Radisson Hotel was a big hit with its unique, egg-shaped design. Constructed of an egg-shaped shell of some moldable material, usually fiberglass, it has a padded interior that molds itself to your shape. But enough with history, and let’s come back to the design for today. Inspired by the Egg Chair the Cosmos Chair from Johanson Design is a double egg chair that allows you to enjoy the wholesome eggsome with the one you love. The design is available in cream, white, red, green with various options for the base finish, the Cosmos chair could also replace a sofa with success.

Are you ready to see a very creative design ? Is called the “Splash Chair” , and is designed by Michael L. Wendel. As you can see from these pictures the Splash Chair was inspired by slow motion water drops. The Splash Lounge Chair is sure to be a hit for any home, especially for people who want something different that will make their room stand out. Now for those of you who are curious how this chair was made, here is the explanation. - Via - Yankodesign

The chair was sculpted at 1/8th scale using Sculpey clay. From there, the model was cut into ¼ inch slices. These slices were scanned, blown up to full scale, and plotted to be used as a template for the full scale model. From there, the templates were adhered to 2 inch pink insulation foam, cut out, and assembled to the full scale form. Countless hours of sanding later, the form was coated in 4 coats of Elmer’s glue to protect the foam from resin. After the glue was dried, the form was sprayed with chopped fiberglass using a chopper gun. Once dried, the fiberglass was sanded down, then coated with Bondo. After sanding the Bondo as smooth as possible, it was painted with high epoxy glossy white paint.

Finally after I’ve saw this amazing design, I’ve also searched on the internet for water drops in slow motion, and here is a video with a really beautiful red drop of water in slow motion. Enjoy !

Nelson Coconut Chair is a chair that has an innovative design, and an innovative shape. Intended to combine comfort with freedom of movement, the shape of the Coconut Chair’s white molded shell was inspired by the shape of Eero Saarinen’s Kresge Auditorium at MIT. Echoing both the auditorium’s triangular shape, as well as a portion of coconut shell, the Chair’s unique form invites a number of different seating positions. The shell sits upon a chromed-steel base with three thin legs. A single-piece foam cushion, upholstered in high-quality semi-aniline leather, is molded into the shell. Finally the price for this chair is very expensive, $3,899.00 and you can get it from here …I don’t even know why they put prices like that.

When I saw the Mimic Chair I don’t know why I immediately thought at Alien & Predator, that’s what appeared in my mind at a first glance. The frame of the Mimic Chair is made of round steel tube with a 16 gage metal sheet back. Each leg is bent by hand to form the illusion of movement. There are a total of 30 legs varying in lengths, I can say that is a chair that look like a myriapod. The upholstery color and type of material is upon client’s preference and style. Chairs made to order only, and you can order one from here.
