Daniel Loves Objects of Singapore designs lamps like no other. Called At Your Command, these really cool lamps can be manipulated into different postures as they are jointed. Imagine how much fun you could have arranging the lamps. A single one could be posed on its knees or leaning against the wall if you feel like you need a prayer or two after a rotten day. Group a few of them together and you could tell a story with a lighting scene. It’ll be a grand conversation piece!

The designer removed the wires “for visualization sake”. But even with the wires in, the At Your Command lamps are still a model of imaginative design.

The Magic™ chair is truly magical. It is both functional and stylishly simple. It is also a model of efficiency. The nesting concept of four chairs in one saves not only a great deal of space but is economical in construction. Not much material is lost in its making. The four solid wood chairs were created using the bentwood technique where the furniture is sculpted via steaming and molding. Just perfect as the Papa, Mama and two baby chairs!

The industrial designer is Dripta Roy, co-founder of the Canadian company Purr Design with a vision of “Make it so no one can fake it”. The Magic™ chair will be available in Montreal in the spring. The design rights are also available for sale.

Did you know fireplaces are not only portable these days but they are also shrinking? Wolf Udo Wagner’s Ponton Fireplace is not only portable but it’s small enough to put on any table top for that extra cosy ambiance. Put it on your dining table or outside on your patio table. In fact, you could take it just about anywhere you want to enjoy watching the dancing flames.

The tempered glass and stainless steel fireplace runs on bio-alcohol and lasts about 1 – 1.5 hours. It’s made in Germany but you can purchase it from Charles and Marie for US$495. – Via

When you think about it, the humble coat hanger’s design hasn’t changed for a long time. One designer, Swiss born Nicola Enrico Stäubli who bills himself as Nicola from Bern, has come up with a radical new approach to hanging up your clothes, hats and scarves. His powder-coated steel Coat Hanger & Coat Hook allows you to hang your clothes on a conventional wall mounted railing as it holds the clothes away from the wall. Flip the hanger over and you’ve got yourself a hook! The designer even suggested that a narrow hallway could become a wardrobe if there were a series of railings and plenty of his hangers! – Via
