Have you ever wondered why bathroom fixtures like the bath, sink and shower hug the walls? It’s partly because the pipes are easily run along the walls but partly because it has become conventional to do so. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Panay is a one piece bath, shower and washbasin combination from Undpartner (Austria). It is not only a compact space-saving and elegant design but it also lets you integrate the unit anywhere in the bathroom – with the pipes running underneath. What’s more, you can locate the Panay anywhere else in the house like a guestroom but the living room isn’t recommended unless you have exhibitionist tendencies!!

This piece of furniture is something for anyone who loves books. The REK bookcase by Reinier de Jong is designed to grow with your collection, the more books, the bigger the bookcase. The bookcase consists of five parts, the REK can expend and collapse like an accordion. The great thing about this bookcase is that it looks really cool even closed up and equally as cool when fully expanded. – Via

“Silk” is a brand new idea designed by Bloq based on a spiders web in the corner of a room. This large bookcase was designed to sit in the space that is under used in the corner of the room, but it can be placed in the middle of a wall. “Silk” can also be turned on its side. All the pieces are made to order so all the sizes and finishes can be changed. Sometime ago I’ve made a collection of bookcases here on Freshome, and the Silk could be a great addition to that collection.

Stuart Fingerhut is a Los Angeles based designer who came up with this non-violent gun. It’s actually a wall mounted gun rack organiser specifically created to hold your keys, mail and so on in your foyer. What could be more peaceful than a gun that doesn’t fire, has a flock of birds and a little girl swinging on the barrel? He designed it to be a functional art piece.

The gun rack organizer is laser cut from 1/4″ acrylic and can be arranged such that there is more shelf space or to sit closer or further from the wall. You can purchase it either black or white for $100 from the designer’s Etsy Store. – Via

John Beck Steel (USA) designed this wonderful environmentally friendly fire cube. As he promises, you can enjoy a fire without the hassle of smoke, smell and ashy messes to clean up! The strong simple shape makes it a stand out design that looks good outdoors amongst the plants aswell as indoors in contemporary spaces.

The Fire Cube runs off Sunjel fuel which is an alcohol mix. The designer created this by hand from solid steel which has been clear coated for durability. it is only available in natural steel finish for $449 at the moment but more colors are in the pipeline. – Via
