Lift is a new kitchen concept designed by Michel Cornu that fulfils our daily needs for modular and dynamic systems. At a closer look we can see that these shelves are part of dynamic space-saving interior design system that maximizes function through movable wall units. Tucked between layers of sliding cabinetry, the essentials cooking can be found hidden at the core: stove, oven, faucet, sink with a preparation surface in between and a refrigerator to one side. When not in use, the constituent elements can be slid up and down to move them out of the way and create varying layouts and spatial configurations. To bad that this idea is just a concept for now. – Via – Dornob

Sink or bath plugs have little to no design appeal. Until now. The Water Stopping Water plug transforms the utilitarian - let’s not be too polite about it – downright boring household item into an eye-catching even sculptural piece. The plug looks like a water droplet which then stops your sink or bath tub from draining empty of water! The ingenious award winning design is from the Lunar Europe Design Studio. You can purchase it from their website for 15 Euros.

Dubbed “the disappearing kitchen,” Giorgio Armani’s “Calyx” kitchen is a slick and glossy design with long modern lines and bold, flat accents. Developed with a neat satin finish to give a heavy golden impression, Armani’s kitchen is meant to fold up and neatly fit behind wide doors and large panels, literally vanishing into the simplicity of its design. Created in collaboration with the design studio Dada, the complementary dining tables, refrigerator, dishwater, steam and standard ovens, food warming drawer, gas stove and wine cellar can all be adjusted to hide (as required) behind the panels which have the same finish as the walls. A great concept for a modernist home (especially for those among us with a love for Armani’s signature design style), this kitchen would be a brilliant premise for those interested in entertaining in a high-end modular concept home. So be sure and contact your private architect to get them on board! – via

For those of you who spend time cooking here is an interesting idea designed by Tomas Kral that might be quite useful. The Lap Counter is a plastic tray and a neat kitchen facility, which gives you the mobility to peel, chop, slice fruits and vegetables almost anywhere in the house. It’s ergonomically shaped to fit the lap of the sitting person and it’s molded for both a container and a working surface.
It will barely siton your drying rack or fit in your washing machine, so it’s better thinking in the direction of assembling different modules, but besides that the Lap Counter is a brilliant facility for your prep cooking comfort. – Via – Dsgnwrld
