We would like to start our presentation of this fantastic cellar design with a not-so-fantastic information: the costs of having one are around $30 000. Now that we can move pass that, we will also tell you what you will get for this money. Basically, a great looking indoor wine cellar with a capacity of 1000 or 1600 bottles and the ability of maintaining the wine in the best possible conditions. Here are some words from the producers about the spiral cellar: “a watertight, pre-cast cylindrical system that’s sunk into the ground, it can be located anywhere from kitchen to conservatory, workshop to study. It can be installed into an existing ground floor room, or incorporated into the build of an extension or new property”. We hope you enjoyed this design as much as we did and we wish you happy wine tasting!

If decorating your walls gives you a hard time, we found an easy way out. These lovely stainless steal decorative tiles come from Artecnica, they are designed by Tord Boontje and they are called “Puddles”. The shapes are medium in size and can be easily glued to any surface. Ceilings and floors are not to be neglected, as these lovely self-adhesive shapes could completely transform the way they look. A very handy solution with a great result, or at least this is our opinion. The prices for each tile vary from $18 to $31 which is really not that much considering the transformation. Here are some words from the designer Tord Boontje: “Just like clouds, puddles are very imaginative in making their own shapes, sometimes they like to look like flowers, sometimes like butterflies or birds, or sometimes just like blobs.”

‘Farmer in search of style’ is the name of an interesting collection recently exhibited courtesy of Designhuis Eindhoven. All the items presented have the purpose of pointing out how, in fact, “rural realities are influencing urban life” and how little by little the stressful urban existance will make room for the peace and quietness of the countrey-side. You can observe the rest of the designs in the exposition here. The pouffes in the images below come from Christien Meindertsma. They are colorful, playful and vivid, which is quite the oposite of the whole idea of being stressed out. You can sit on them, put them on top of each other, throw them chaoticaly around the room, they will still bring a fresh touch no matter where they are placed.

Here is an interesting idea for all DIY that are here on Freshome. Designed by Phil Garner this clever TV-Chair appeared in the architectural book Freestyle: The New Architecture and Design from Los Angeles
in 1986. No idea the origins of this crazy idea, although we’ve got to say it seems like a custom, DIY bit and not a manufactured design. But we just love how it shows us that the cool vintage look of old appliances in our homes don’t have to diessappear completely, even though we mostly favor black and sleek designs now. What do you think about this idea ? Is is cool enough for you ? – Via – Monkeyzen
