Light Up Your Bedroom with an Alien Abduction Lamp that Steals Cows

Share |

Two years ago when I’ve first published about the Alien Abduction Lamp a lot of people loved this product, but unfortunately the lamp was in the concept stage. For those of you who wanted this lamp so bad the designer Lasse Klein announced that the lamp is finally almost ready for production. “The way from concept to prototype has gone very well, without having to compromise on any important details. The few changes that have been made from the renderings to the final products have been by will and by listening to your feedback in my little survey rather than by necessity. The most noticeable change is the removal of the ornaments and pattern to arrive at a more timeless and clean result. You probably also noticed that it has taken quite a while, but seeng the beautiful result, I think it has been worth the extra time.” There’s no release date or price yet, but you can sign up to have the opportunity to purchase one of the first 2000 Abduction Lamps in a special limited edition run at AbductionLamp.com.

The Power Outlet of Tomorrow : Node Power Outlet

Share |

To be honest I think that I’m not the only one who noticed the increasing number of electronic devices intruding our apartments as well as offices, and all these gadgets require lots of sockets. An elegant solution to this problem is the Node Power Outlet, that makes the power strips almost useless.  “Node” is an innovative solution to the scruffy problem that not just amps up multiple plugs in the circuit, but it featuring a simple yet fresh design also go hand in had with the interior decoration. Finally I can say that from a design perspective this idea looks very good, but I’m not sure that the idea will pass the safety standards. – Via – BBG & Metaphys

Creative LED Lighting Sculpture : Cumulus Maximus

Share |

Designers Daria Burlinska and Wojtek Traczyk have developed this creative lighting sculpture from the concept of a bulbous (no pun intended) cumulus cloud.  Made from hand-formed glass bulbs, the Cumulus Maximus emits a subtle blue accent from LED lights strewn through the sculpture.  Though built from steel and glass, the design of the Cumulus Maximus has a weightlessness about it, and would have a fantastic addition to a hip dining room or for designers interested in creating an airy, delicate motif for a space.  Certainly it draws the eye, but I feel that it would serve an interior space with round, white furniture and large, flat curvilinear accents really well. – visit their site

Luján & Sicilia’s Zona Lights

Bordered by a clear acrylic frame and developed from a polypropylene diffuser, Francisco Luján and Jaime Sicilia’s Zona Light pendant lights have an industrial feel that’s hard to find in colorful complementary light systems.  Available in several sizes and several different colors, I love the way that these lights are a modern, progressive take on the shape of a lantern, or a creative a fusion of a spotlight and a table lamp.  Either way, the acrylic frame allows for the Zona Light to both diffuse light evenly as well as glow on its own.  The Zona Lights would be smart accompaniments to long or circuitous hallways, accent lights for low-lit patios, or mood lighting for a modern bedroom possibly. – you can actually purchase a Zona here

Santachiara’s Zabriskie Point

Share |

From the center of Denis Santachiara’s Zabriskie Point suspension lamp is an egg-shaped lighting structure designed for Italian lighting manufacturer de Majo Illuminazione.  From the center of the fixture, Santachiara attached glass fragments on all sides to capture and change the arrangement of light as it bursts from the Zabriskie Point.  Elegant and striking, this lighting sculpture would be a fantastic addition to a dining space for those looking to leave their dinner guests wowed.  Certainly I would be stricken by this bold accent in a contemporary space, and it definitely caught my eye right away on the internet (so I can’t imagine how I’d react if I saw the Zabriskie Point in person aside from “wow”ing.  Or possibly “ooh”ing and “ahh”ing).
