I have to admit that I’m fascinated about the pieces of furniture that seem to float, and this piece designed by Ronald Tuber is a really beautiful piece. The flowing movement has resulted in this three dimensional S-shape turning into a well balanced and elegant piece of furniture. The rounded off top can simply be opened with two dampers. The sideboard is secured to the wall at 20-25 cm from the floor, which makes it look like it’s floating. This piece of furniture is 3150 euro and you can get it from here.

The Pion Chair is about highlighting the contrast between the two elements that compose a chair, the structural mechanical element, and the human interaction element. Rather then starting with the structural and then putting the human part on top, the designer moved the structural to the outside and the interaction to the inside. Thus, both elements live on the same plane with one another, rather then stacked. Also, the inside appears to float on its own since it does not interact with the outer frame on the backside. This creates an interesting visual effects which adds emphasis the division of the elements, but it also serves a functional purpose. The disconnect allows the panels have a bit of movement to them, thus allowing for a bit of flexibility when accommodating a user to avoid an overly rigid feel. – Sent via email by Alek Shnayder

Designed by Ian Blasco, the Metamorphosis chair is sliced by hand out of 16 layers of expanded polypropylene foam. Though it appears to be like a volcanic rock, it’s not that heavy to be moved from one room to another. Exceptionally cool, this chair is fit to be a part of your modern furnishings. So if you wanted a chair with attitude and really unique here is one. – Via – Nosmarties
