This is the 3rd time when something designed by Antonio Lupi appears on Freshome. This time I’ve decided to present the Sartoriale Bathtub, a new design that is really an attention grabbing object. The line of the bathtub simply extends further on one side than expected, for a pleasing asymmetrical twist. Made in flawless Cristalplant, the tub also comes with a black exterior finish.

Designed by Davide Vercelli for HegoWaterDesign this is a new approach to bathroom design, a clever combined bathroom faucet & flower vase design. I think that someone who loves flowers will appreciate this design. Even without the flower the design is quite compelling, including simple, clear resin handles and a likewise transparent basin leading up to a channel that culminates in an elegant waterfall. Finally this design is for someone who really loves flowers and wants to see them each morning when going to the bathroom to wash their face and hands. – Via – Dornob

Modern bathroom design has been steadily transitioning into a “simple is better” mentality over the last decade, and bathroom vanities have been following a similar trend. Take, for instance, the 23” Balboa corner vanity. Simultaneously striking and subtle in its design, the Balboa does seem to attract attention. But that’s the interesting thing about it: the Balboa doesn’t really try to attract attention. Modern vanities tend to maximize your space, at the cost of sacrificing all those extraneous design flourishes. It should be noted that most modern bathroom vanities are very eye-catching despite their simple design, and the Balboa is no exception. Its wedge-shaped countertop is made from clear tempered glass, and its round edge is very smooth. The shape and choice of material for this vanity is very effective, and the Balboa will really draw attention to any corner it’s installed in.

The Balboa is a wall mounted bathroom vanity, which adds to its visual appeal but also gives you plenty of leg room (or storage space) underneath the countertop. The Balboa is not equipped with shelving space, as is the trend with many contemporary bathroom vanities. This means if you’re an organization fanatic, you may want to find a vanity that better suits your needs. A towel rack is provided, however, and the built-in vessel sink does leave some countertop space for your toiletries. Overall, the Balboa is a great example of modern design principles in the contemporary bathroom, and its relatively low cost (about $480 at Bathgems) makes it a fine addition to any home. Developed by Thomas Coward, the Principal Designer of Australian bathroom products manufacturer Omvivo, the Dune Basin is clearly inspired by the swelling and falling forms of the desert landscape. To be officially released this upcoming July, the Dune Basin is an organic take on modernist basin design: sleek and deliberately asymmetrical. What I find interesting about the Dune Basin’s design is that, unlike many of Omvivo’s other Basin designs, the Dune is not weighed down with strong angular accents or slabs of weighty material in the traditional modernist sense. Although the images focus more intentionally on a clean, simple modern bathroom design to complement the sink, it may be interesting to see the Dune Basin in a hip, charming bathroom that did not focus so much on a stream-lined motif. The Dune Basin certainly doesn’t discount this as a possibility.
