Designing a cafe has turned into challenging task over the years, with so many creative interior schemes being born daily. Studio OOZN Design completed the development of Six Degrees Cafe, an original relaxation hub, located within a shopping mall in Jakarta. The venue features wavy timber elements which give away a cave-like feel when inside: “We created an undulating skin of timber slats equally spaced apart at 150-millimeter intervals, which covers the entire wall and ceiling to break the monotony of spatial heights”, explained the design team.
The unconventional wooden layers envelop most of the interior of the coffee place, except for a black-painted rear wall and a polished concrete floor: “The varying depth of the fins not only creates a strong visual impact, they also hide the ceiling equipment and improve the acoustics inside the cafe,” added the designers. The bar is clad with black mosaic tiles sits and separates the coffee machine from a food preparation area. Four seating zones were created to suit different moods and different group sizes. Envisioned as a special gathering place for friends, this relaxation hub in Jakarta offers a memorable and cozy experience.
