BBSC Architects completed the design and development of a massive contemporary residence located in The Netherlands. Light, sight and see-through were the three main “ingredients” which stood at the basis of the design. The street facade was partially closed in order to allow a high level of privacy, while the opposite side is transparent.
A bright and serene atmosphere was achieved by opening up the interiors to the swimming pool and spectacular lake views beyond.: “All living and sleeping quarters look out over the garden and the lake. A central void connects the ground-floor with the first floor and links the cozy, raised up sitting area with the kitchen and eating area“. Despite a minimalist approach, some of the rooms are well defined aesthetically. White walls absorb and reflect the natural light that penetrates through the front facade, magnifying the feeling of space. [Photographs: Wim Van Eesbeeck]
