    My parents recently bough a new home and sold our old one and one thing that I remember the realtor saying was that we actually shouldn’t renovate the old house before selling – it usually doesn’t pay off.

    Our old home was a pretty typical property for that neighbourhood and if we would renovate extensively, the home would stick out of the standard there, but buyer’s wouldn’t be willing to pay for the extra luxury because guess what? It was still in the same old neighbourhood.
