Dark And Cold Old House Completely Transformed Into a Bright and Eco-Friendly Home

The dark and cold old Chestnut Hill Residence, a house built in 1983, went through radical changes and became the green dream house the owners always wanted. The renewal of the old quirky residence located in Brookline, Massachusetts, was completed by  A+SL Studios and OMA. The renewal consisted of a new passage added along the south side and higher ceilings in the living room. The result: a cheerful-bright, contemporary interior and a wonderful living ambience. “The owners’ growing family and passion for green design mandated a complete reappraisal of the interior spaces and their connection to the site, as well as technological upgrades to reinforce the house’s original mission and to make an up-to-date sustainability statement.”

One of the main advantages is definitely the view. Peaceful and relaxing, the surroundings can be easily “accessed” from the intimacy of the living room. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow the owners to enjoy the beautiful site and feel more connected to the nature than before. The use of eco-friendly materials qualifies the house as ideal for the owners, which have a deep respect towards the nature. The glossy white furniture blends wonderful with wooden floor and window frames.

I have gone through all the pictures you have posted and they were great. Very pretty home and I would appreciate your idea of making radical changes.
