The New Canaan Residence developed by Specht Harpman in Connecticut, USA is an example of functional modern home design. A visual outdoor/indoor connectivity was the main aim of the architects: “By creating unassuming but direct paths into the dramatic glass entryway, Specht Harpman designed the house to welcome its owners and their visitors into what feels like a floating pavilion in the tree canopy. The swimming pool area and separate cabana emphasize the project’s strong lines and classically modern roots“.

Each interior is enhanced by massive floor to ceiling windows, allowing natural light and the freshness of the old trees inside. Every volume has its own special function, yet all the rooms are connected through an interior design similarity. Generously-sized glass doors and large terraces open up the house towards the landscaped garden. Have a look and feel free to share your thoughts!
