With a design conceived by Dettling Architekten, C1 House in Karlsruhe, Germany displays an interesting rectangular exterior appearance, outlined by an open terrace and generous swimming pool. Especially designed to open up to the neighboring valley and village, the family residence was envisioned by the architects as a giant picture frame, showcasing the lovely surrounding landscape. In order to meet this objective, large floor to ceiling windows define each interior of the house. An open plan living and dining space connected to the deck terrace becomes the main social area of the residence. Defined by wood additions, the interiors are a modern display of elegance, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. A partially camouflaged stairway leads the way towards the upper floor, where a lovely miniature bookcase is improvised. This is probably the most peaceful part of the entire house, a great place to rest and/or work. How would you comment on the design of this family home in Germany?
