Modern Californian House Facing An Uninterrupted Landscape
Designed to face an uninterrupted landscape exposed through large glass doors and windows, the Lima Residence in Calabasas, California, focuses on providing its inhabitants with spacious social and private spaces to enjoy alongside family and fiends. Rectangle-shaped, the structure of this 4,500 square foot modern house was designed by California-based studio Abramson Teiger Architects as two units separated by a courtyard – the main house and garage on one side, and the guest house on the other. Rising two stories in the air, the Lima Residence provokes the eye with 14 foot high ceilings displayed in the main social space.
Here, the living and dining spaces were separated from the family room with the help of a free-standing cabinet. This space opens to the kitchen which runs perpendicular to the main space. A steel staircase in the back of the kitchen rests on a platform and provides access to the upper bedroom suites. An office space and a storeroom were also accommodated in the floor plan, and the outdoor patio was designed to offer plenty of relaxation zones. We featured another project completed by the architects, maybe you remember the Glamorous Villa on the hills of Los Angeles or have already drawn inspiration from its magnificent interiors. This residence too is an inspiring cluster of open spaces that can guide your thoughts towards a bright home adapted to its surroundings.
