LEGO Inspired Photographic Work Drawing Attention on Valencia’s Decaying Buildings

Valencia residents Ivars and Lopez liken of EspaiMGR recently came up with an intriguing idea for drawing attention on the decaying buildings in their city. Their photographic work envisions LEGO additions (should we call them original public art interventions?) that liven the otherwise neglected buildings and act as a call to action. According to the developers, the project “aims at calling people’s attention, just like painting those isolated walls yellow would. It demands the recreational use of those vacant lots through the eyes of a child, by filling them with impossible constructions, surrealistic installations in line with the problem. A children’s game as a neighbor’s shout, demanding the right to take part in their city“. We find this idea to have a strong impact and we think it would be great to use as part of an integrated awareness campaign.
