The Ashely Avenue residence comes from TaC Studios and is located in Atlanta, Georgia. We think this place defines the trend that has captured architecture recently. You are looking at a compact home with very large interiors, two levels, a mix of modern and classical furniture and an interesting outdoor pool. We featured this house because it has a lot of interesting and detailed angles of site, a various interior design and quite a few inspiring elements. We particularly like the spiral stairs- even though they probably take up a whole lot of space, the wide living room with the focus on the piano and the fireplace window. Still, we think this home is not very well defined and resembles a lot of residences you’ve probably seen on Freshome before. Tell us if you agree.

I personnaly like it, I am fond of this kind of architecture which are achievable for average people or so. Great place ! Keep on showing us things like that.
Thx
The house is beautiful and beautifully designed. However, I am pretty certain it has no link whatsoever architecturally to the other houses in the neighborhood. I live in Atlanta, and there are many very charming neighborhoods of attractive, older houses. The neighborhoods have very distinct characteristics.
Sometimes these older houses have been neglected to the point that they must be torn down and something built in its place. It is entirely possible to build a new home that doesn’t pretend to be vintage, or a copy of the original houses, but still is able to support aesthetically the surrounding homes.
Too often in Atlanta, though, I see a new house built that, though it may be attractive on its own, does not have any link to the neighborhood’s characteristics. This clearly one of those houses.
If I lived next door, I would be very angry with the person who decided to build such a house in my neighborhood.
I think it is selfish and just bad practice to build with no consideration to the surroundings.
Fantastic contemporary design and the spriral staircase is marvelous!
Even though the house is an absolute stunner on the inside (except for the two armchairs); the exterior does not reflect the “southern” way of living that Atlanta is known for. I think that it must clash with the neighborhood.
I see no clash: I see similar materials to the neighbouring house.
hmmm i also gotta say what seemed so exciting on the outside is a little uneven on the in. Not comfortable with the cluttering staircase placement….and look at the way the floorboards are cupping. Is this american craftsmanship?
I like it .
It. at least. proves that a contemporary American “villa” does not have to be a 800 sq/ft monstrum.
It has an almost European use of space.
I love the front of the house, and the corner being all windows. The bedroom and bathrooms were great. But I thought the bottom of the stairs looked awkward. The” marble window” where a woodburning fireplace should have been, looked absurd And someone needs to tell them the gardner left his tools under the piano. The landscape was clueless, alas…
I have lived in Atlanta also and although this house is very distinctive from the other homes on the block, judging by the houses captured in the picture, I think the materials used on the exterior marry well with the other houses exterior materials. The brick used is very southern and seen throughout Atlanta. Also, the faux wood material used- not sure what it is called- gives the house a very natural feel. Compared to homes in the neighborhood I don’t think the designer was be gaudy; the home is very tasteful and it compliments the other homes in its on modern way.
I like it is different wood how ever wanted to see more of the 2de floor are
and a non detailed drawing of the layout would have been nice….
wondering could some one get the “plans” not like build spec but just to get an idea of whats going on
