Tell Me About Yourself, Dear Freshome Reader

Freshome is almost 3 years old and I feel it would be wonderful to give some space to our readers to present themselves. A lot of different people visit Freshome, some come and go, some come occasionally, some are with us daily, and a few of them have been with us from the very beginning. I think it would be wonderful to get to know you, to learn more about the community we have here and for you all to see who else is visiting the same place as you do.

Or even simpler, just share what you feel like sharing, and tell us something about yourself that you think describes your personality well.

    Hey!

I am Jay. I am fron The Netherlands , 40-something and an IT-specialist with a serious weakness for design. Especially minimalism and bauhaus have my interest.

Your site and the items with all kinds of examples of interior-design are my favourite.

I really like the fact that You not only high-light “high-design” , but also smaller, affordable things(not all of us are millionnaires that don’t care if a van der Rohe cost as much as a small car…heh..)

    Hi Michael,

I’m enjoying your site, thanks! About me: I’m an art director and principal of Robin Horton Design (www.robinhortondesign.com) and I launched my blog, Urban Gardens: Unlimited Thinking for Limited Spaces, in April 2009. The blog’s raison d’etre is to link people to the freshest innovative and eco-friendly ideas, trends, and designs for the stylish urban garden.

I explore and showcase what’s out there in the urban garden universe–from products of talented new designers, to community gardens experimenting with edible landscaping, sustainable urban agriculture and micro-farms, to guerilla gardeners transforming derelict abandoned properties into lush, or at least, provocative garden spaces.

Happy to report that the blog is recipient of the Platinum Creativity Award for blog design.

Look forward to reading more on your site!

I’m Amy, from north Mississippi. I’m a former college dropout (I started back this semester!) and my fiance and I are hoping to build our first home soon. I’ve always loved design and decorating, and I would love go into a career involving these but unfortunately there are not many opportunities for success in this area, so instead I pour all of my creativity into trying to make our lives as simple and lovely as possible. I guess in part I read this blog to live vicariously through the people who do get to succeed in this line of work.

My whole life rotates around Freshome.com
I fell in love with it since I discovered it by accident around years ago.

The website is magical and addictive; even more it’s up-to-date with the current trend and products which you’ll see in magazines after 2-4 months. Therefore I rely on deeply t and feel sad when no one post new pictures/ideas.

I usually check it out Freshome 2-3 times a day to see the new releases, believe me when I say it’s pure “Oxygen”. The website fulfills my unfilled dreams and desires and provides quality at my fingertips with a press of a button. What a wonderful website.

I Wish Freshome a Blessed and Wonderful Birthday, May freshmen prosper to inspire our future generations.

    Kind Regards

I’m Eugene from Latvia. My 9-to-5 is airline business and I play music afterwards. I started browsing freshome along with rearranging my apartment and I think it helped a lot. What is more important, I started browsing other design blogs as well, now I read many of them on a daily basis (including freshome), before I read none. I think you could come up with some kind of section on this web-site where readers would be able to upload pictures of their apartment and show everyone what they’ve learned, that would be nice I think!
All the best to you and thanks for blogging ;>

    Hi,

I am a radiologist from the Philippines. I’ve been a fan of freshome ever since I started planning to build my dream house about 2 years ago. I can say that I got most of my ideas, inspirations and patterns from freshome. Even my furnitures, lighting fixtures, stairs and railings are lifted from some of your pictures. Right now, my dream house is almost done. We started building it last Dec 8 , 2008. I hope you could feature it also so others can see my “FRESHOME” INSPIRED DREAM HOUSE.

Thanks and more power to you guys. By the way, I am planning to get short courses on Interior designing because I think I could use it when I get tired from being a doctor.

This is Alan, from Texas. I use the site daily as a short study break, I’m in medical school and don’t do much else then study. This may sound weird, but the things I see on the site keep me motivated to study more each night, I want the money to afford them all! I love the fancy bathrooms the most. You really showcase some beautiful stuff.

Freshome is one of just three newsletters or blogs I have sent to me daily. Like so many of your readers, I save my favorites for later reference–and that means 90% of them!

If you were to visit certain pages of my website, you would see that I personally enjoy modern design. I wish more clients would request clean, calm environments like I see on freshome.com.

I have been practicing interior design for lots of years, but also sold furniture, taught interior design and worked with a residential builder before starting my own business in 2007.
Unlike the “typical” reader commenting here, I am over 30–make that over 50! I live in Michigan, USA.

P.S. I used one of your hyperlinks to virtually visit a firm’s work in Sweden. I sent a note to a designer from that firm and they emailed me back. Its amazing, connected world we live in.

At about 10 I began looking at barns and dreaming of renovating them. In college I wished I’d majored in Interior Design or Architecture, but didn’t. I’m an Interior Design wanna-be. We had 2 houses, a townhouse, and next month husband and I will be moving to a 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment, an Empty Nest for the first time in 20 years. Our income is low and I will never have the chance for a Design degree or job but I love looking at current blogs and Design ideas. I’m looking forward to decorating our new nest and changing out things as time goes on.
