The Wood Block Residence in Washington

Advertising

Located in on Mercer Island, Washington, and surrounded by a lush vegetation and beautiful hills, the Wood Block Residence comes fromĀ  Chadbourne + Doss Architects and carries a rich bond with nature. The cold and interesting-looking exterior, from iron, wood and concrete reveals the opposite when it comes to the indoor atmosphere. Warm and friendly, the place seems to have it all: large spaces, amazing furniture, modern arrangements. The overall feeling is a very fresh one, due to the colours used and decorating items. A little rustic touch is given by the boulders and the outside patio. The views across the hills are another factor that convinced us to place this house on our “dream houses” list. – Via -Thecoollist

I grew up in the South in the land of 19th century plantation homes. As such, it has been difficult for me to envision living in a home like this. I can appreciate those that do live in and enjoy these but to me these homes are so cold and uninviting.
