One piece of furniture trickery standing upright on only two legs, this pair of Shadow Chairs by British designer Chris Duffy seems to defy everything we knew about gravity. It looks like the lack of back legs is being substituted by the apparent black shadow that is part of the chair’s metal frame and functions as its base. A creative composition that is made from walnut wood and steel, the Shadow Chairs retail for something close to $1,200, but there’s no assurance the average American won’t break it. However it does the job right in fooling your guests – at least for the first time. – Via

You are aware that there are Americans who read and subscribe to your blog and follow you on Twitter, aren’t you? I think an apology is in order for your snide remark.
If the shadows in your home are that harsh, we need to discuss lighting.
Hi vicky,
It could be me but I don’t think there’s need for appology as it wasn’t meant to offence the American. There are reports that the average American weighs a bit more than the average European, and the article only talks about how strong the chair is … as in – it may break if an adult stays on it.
Really no offence intended!
It looks like it will break down when I sit on this chair
@Web 2.0 — honestly? I’m SURE it will break if I sat on it
It will break if I sat on it as well, it looks like be designed for girls.
It is true that a lot of Americans are overweight,
BUT
If it were made in America, it certainly would NOT break.
Beautiful piece of work…overpriced, but nice.
American made stuff is so crap, americans won’t even buy it
It’s an overpriced gimmick with an entertainment value of exactly 5 seconds. Next.

[...] Is it magic? Is it an optical illusion? A little of both, actually. The Shadow Chair comes from British designer Chris Duffy, and although it looks like it’s balancing on two front legs, it’s not. The shadow is actually part of the chair’s metal frame and acts as a base. The chair retails for about $1,200. For more information, check out this page at Freshome. [...]
